Self-publishing has now become a positive choice for authors, not a last resort. Some of us are years into the industry, but many authors are just starting out. Some are new authors, choosing to self-publish their first book. Others are established authors moving into publishing themselves for the first time.

Every day, I get questions about how to self-publish in ebook and print formats as well as how to market books. So I have put the entire process and best practices into this ebook, available now. [It should be free everywhere, but if Amazon hasn't price matched yet, it will be 99c or equivalent.]

Do you want to successfully self-publish?

There are thousands of new books being published every day, but many self-published books quickly sink to the bottom of the pile.

Many authors are frustrated because there are so many options for self-publishing, and they don’t know which one to choose or what will be best for their book.

Others spend thousands of dollars to publish and end up broken-hearted with the result.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

I’ve spent the last seven years self-publishing bestselling fiction and non-fiction books and in 2011, I left my day job to become a full-time author entrepreneur.

I’ve made lots of mistakes along the way, but through the process of self-publishing 17 books, I’ve learned the most effective way to publish and market your books. In this book, I’ll share everything with you.

  • Excited to read this and jump in on your course Joanna!

I've been doing research on this to outline every step of the process for my team, so this will likely help me identify anything I've missed!

Thanks for providing so much value to authors and the self pub industry!

    • Hi Valerie,
There's definitely some cross-over - but the Author 2.0 Blueprint goes into writing and making a living with your writing as well as self-publishing and marketing. So it's a broader look at the whole process, whereas this book is a deep dive on how to self-publish. In 2016, I aim to re-organize a lot of content into pathways :)

  • Hi Joanna, I read "Successful Self-Publishing". It had some really good info! So, thank you! I was just wondering if you could please expand more on exactly how you go direct with iBooks? The process seems pretty complicated... I'm just starting out, I've sorted out my tax stuff with Amazon (they made it pretty damn simple), and, I live in Australia so it looks like I have to get an ITIN, because I'm an individual, but, Apple's site, when I was researching how to go direct with iBooks, it directed me to a "How to apply for an EIN" page on the IRS's website, but EIN's are not for individuals. I'm confused... Maybe if you could please write a step-by-step instruction guide for a newbie on going direct with iBooks? That would be a great help! Thank you.

    • It is pretty complicated and not something to include in a book :) so my recommendation for newbies is to use Draft2Digital.com. You can google for some other tutorials though if you really want to do it.

      • Thanks, Joanna! I signed up for Draft2Digital... I'm really impressed with them. The only thing is I didn't receive an ITIN when filling out the tax interview... So, if I choose to go with Smashwords, as well, and I get an ITIN from them with the "snail mail" method, would I be able to use that ITIN, of which I got from smashwords, and go direct with iBooks? -Or would iBooks require a different ITIN from me to go direct with iBooks? I mean; is the ITIN tied to ONLY me (like a normal tax identity number), or, is it tied to me AND the respective company I publish with, e.g. Smashwords, Apple, etc... Hope you can help me with understanding this and I appreciate your help in advance! Thank you.

  • For those authors who are curious as to whether or not to pursue publishing an ebook, it’s a great decision. All you’re doing is creating more opportunities for your work to be read.
