Thanks so much for your comment Natasha - your travel memoir sounds interesting. Definitely something I want to write as well!
I want to do the Camino de Santiago in northern Spain one day!
So many wonderful things to do in the world!

Thanks for the insight. I am wholly inspired by travel literature/narratives/memoirs. I read Eat Pray Love but at times I found the telling part lacking a little bit of interactivity with the reader, so I do agree with the 'show don't tell' rule. However, her book did captivate me the whole way through, so I am struggling with the idea that maybe rules can be broken. I am currently writing a travel memoir, maybe also myself crossing genres. In any case, your commentary will help me through this literary journey. Thanks

Thanks for this! EPL has long been an inspiration for me to step outside genre boundaries (i'm writing a spiritual memoir set in a war-zone...) and has emboldened me to sometimes tell - in a spiritual memoir it's difficult to follow the golden "show don't tell" rule and I've often gone back to EPL to remind myself that breaking the rules sometimes works like a charm.

Interesting take... I like how you went outside the box here to talk about ELP instead of giving the typical review. This will help me as I write today. Thanks!
